Emotional Intelligence
Training & Coaching

Gary Eaton has gained accreditation from Genos as an Emotional Intelligence Trainer and Coach.

Emotional intelligence refers to the capacity to deal effectively with one's own and others emotions. When applied to the workplace, emotional intelligence is about thinking intelligently with emotions; perceiving, expressing, understanding and managing our own (and others) emotions in a professional and effective manner at work.

Using and improving these skills has created lasting positive
results on managers' effectiveness and on interpersonal
relationships in the workplace.

About The Genos Emotional Intelligence Scale (Genos EI)

Defining Emotional Intelligence
Emotional Intelligence involves a set of skills that define how effectively people perceive, understand, reason with and manage their own and others’ feelings.
These skills are important at work, as emotions are an inherent part of workplace activities at all levels.

Why Emotional Intelligence matters
Research studies suggest that Emotional Intelligence makes a difference in the workplace, including:
• productivity and performance
• interpersonal effectiveness
• leadership capability
• sales performance
• teamwork
• customer service, and
• job satisfaction.

The Genos Model of Workplace Emotional Intelligence
The Genos model of emotional intelligence comprises seven distinct skills, including:
• emotional self-awareness
• emotional expression
• emotional awareness of others
• emotional reasoning
• emotional self-management
• emotional management of others, and
• emotional self-control.

The Genos Emotional Intelligence Assessment Scale
The Genos Emotional Intelligence Assessment Scale does not measure a person’s innate Emotional Intelligence. Rather it measures how often a person demonstrates emotionally intelligent workplace behaviours aligned to the seven skills of Emotional Intelligence. This is because a person’s outward displays and behaviours at work have the most impact on their performance.

Specific features of the Genos Emotional Intelligence Assessment Scale
The Genos Emotional Intelligence Assessment Scale:
• consists of 70 items (behaviours)
• measures how frequently people demonstrate emotionally intelligent behaviour at work
• comprises of items associated with positive and negative emotions for each of the seven skills
• utilises both positively and negatively keyed items
• is completed online
• takes approximately 15 to 25 minutes to complete
• is available in self and multi-rater formats
• can be completed in multiple languages (English, Simplified Chinese, Spanish)_, and
• is supported by extensive peer-reviewed psychological research .
